Yamaha has launched the Precious Edition of its
popular Ray Scooter. The new Ray Precious Edition will be available at a
price of Rs. 48,605 (Ex-showroom Delhi).
Referred to as the ‘Black n Beauty’ by Yamaha, the
scooter has undergone changes involving new graphics and paint finishes.
Coupled with subtle pink patterns, the scooter aims to entice the
female buyer. Mechanically, the scooter remains unchanged. The engine is
the same 113cc four stroke single cylinder engine generating 7.1PS at
7500rpm and 8.1Nm torque at 5500rpm. Yamaha claims that the Ray returns about 45kmpl in the city and around 55kmpl on the highway.
Speaking on the occasion, Roy Kurian, Vice President – Sales and Marketing, Yamaha Motor
India Sales, said, “The launch of the Ray Precious Edition is a clear
illustration of how the market has responded to our range of scooters
and reinforces our belief in the Yamaha Ray.
Our strategic intent is to provide customers the Ray in a stylishly new
design to match their personal style. These scooters have been
instrumental in catapulting our sales to an all new level. We have kept
the essence of the Yamaha Ray
intact while altering the aesthetics to exemplify the glamour quotient
of these compact and easy to ride vehicles. We are confident that this
variant too with its vibrant black and pink design will highly appeal to
our target audiences and help us tap on the festive spirits of the
market.”
Yamaha Motor India entered the scooter segment in India in September 2012 with its Yamaha RAY
which targeted young Indian women. The company has taken a number of
steps to encourage more female riders of its scooter like improving the
customer care quality for female customers by appointing more female
staff at customer contact points and introducing female customer care
program. The company also plans to develop & launch the Yamaha Female Riding Training Program for female customers who have a concern to ride a scooter or want to obtain a riding license.
