Bajaj Discover 100M launched at Rs 46,000

The Discover 100M is the latest entrant under the Discover portfolio and is a toned down version of the sportier 100T priced at Rs 46,000 (ex-showroom Delhi)

Bajaj Auto, which had earlier announced that it would be launching six new products under the Discover brand name kept its word as it unveiled the Discover 100M. Visually the bike looks similar to the Discover 100T but according to Bajaj it has been based on a completely new platform featuring a shorter wheelbase of 1255mm. Powering the 100M is a 102cc, four-stroke, 4-valve, DTS-i engine pumping out 9.3PS @ 8,000rpm and 9.02Nm@ 6,000rpm and mated to a 4-speed transmission unlike its elder siblings 5-speed one. Though the engine is similar to the 100T, the boffins have reduced the torque by 0.5Nm while peak torque is achieved at 500rpm lesser than its elder sibling. This according to the company has been done to make the bike more rideable in heavy traffic conditions while commuting. Bajaj claims a top speed of 95km/h and overall fuel efficiency of 85kmpl.

If you are a Salman Khan fan and in the hunt for a scooter, well look no further as Suzuki Motorcycle India Limited and the Bolywood superstar’s Being Human foundation has collaborated to launch a special ‘Being Human’ edition of the Suzuki Access 125. Features on the scooter include tan leatherette seat cover, chrome plated rear view mirrors and rear grab handle. The special edition of the Access 125 would be available in a unique shade of Pearl Mirage White and feature "Apna Way of Life" stickers on the sides and "Being Human" sticker in front.

TVS has expanded its scooter portfolio with the launch of Jupiter which is based on the underpinnings of the Wego. The new offering from TVS is aimed to please male buyers as it already has the Scooty Pep Plus and Streak targeted at women while the Wego had a unisex appeal. To make the latest scooter more attractive to men, TVS has loaded the Jupiter with features like pass lights (segment first), 12-inch alloys finished in black, telescopic front forks, gas-charged rear suspension, largest leg space in segment and LED tail light. Also the new offering sports an external fuel filler cap at rear, under-seat storage which can fit a full face helmet, mobile charger, tubeless tyres, viscous paper filter and standard electric start.

Yamaha has launched the Precious Edition of its popular Ray Scooter. The new Ray Precious Edition will be available at a price of Rs. 48,605 (Ex-showroom Delhi).

Referred to as the ‘Black n Beauty’ by Yamaha, the scooter has undergone changes involving new graphics and paint finishes. Coupled with subtle pink patterns, the scooter aims to entice the female buyer. Mechanically, the scooter remains unchanged. The engine is the same 113cc four stroke single cylinder engine generating 7.1PS at 7500rpm and 8.1Nm torque at 5500rpm. Yamaha claims that the Ray returns about 45kmpl in the city and around 55kmpl on the highway.

After making its fans wait for many a years, India Kawasaki Motor finally took a plunge in the performance segment as it launched its Ninja ZX-10R and ZX-14R superbikes. But unlike the CKD (completely knocked down units) route it took for its other international offerings like the Ninja 300 and the 650R, Kawasaki would be taking the CBU (completely built unit) path for the Ninja ZX-10R and ZX-14R.

Following the success of the Vespa, Bollywood actor Siddharth Malhotra and Vanya Mishra, winner of 2012 Femina Miss India, took the wraps off the new Vespa VX. Specially developed for the Indian market, the new Vespa VX now comes in two additional colours -- Vibrante Rosa (dual tone red and pink) & Portovenere Green (metallic green). Aside from the colours, the VX also sports a 200mm front disc brake, a new speedometer and MRF Zapper tubeless tyres. The handle bars of the new Vespa have been raised for better grip and comfort. The new models also get an optional beige seat to add to the Vespa’s style and a larger grab rail.
